My top pick comes at a great price, in a bunch of colors and performs great. You can do your lifts without even thinking the weightlifting finger tape will fall off, it stays securely in place no matter how long you work out for.

You always want thumb tape to be tearable and stretchy, and this one is both. It’s easy to tear a piece off and it’s also easy to adjust it because it stretches quite a bit. If you get a thick, stiff tape, it may be better when it comes to durability, but you’ll have a really hard time adjusting it. Most likely, you won’t even be able to adjust it properly and then you won’t get the benefits a grip tape provides, so always look for something stretchy.

You get a very generous amount of tape here. I initially thought that WOD Nation was exaggerating with the amount, but no – there’s a lot of tape on these rolls. More than you get with most others, in fact.

This is a very cost-effective option because the price is really reasonable, but you get more tape than you would with most other manufacturers. But the amount isn’t the only thing that sets this tape apart.

It’s not as stretchy as the last one I mentioned, but it still has enough stretch to be easily adjustable and comfortable. You’ll probably notice it’s a tiny bit on the stiffer side. It won’t be an issue except with snatches when it tends to bunch up. But it works just fine for other workouts.

If you’re struggling to adjust the strap to your fingers, you can make it more moldable/malleable by applying some heat to it. Any hairdryer will do. Heat will really help with some of the stiffness, and it will allow you to adjust it perfectly.

If the strength of the adhesive is your priority, then there’s no tape better for you than this one. This grip tape for weights is the stickiest tape you’ll find. This one won’t move no matter what you do to it, and it’s a bit of a hassle to remove. The glue on it really is unique, and I don’t know of a manufacturer that offers anything stronger.

It’s latex-free and made from cotton, which I always appreciate because it’s great at sweat absorption. The thing with cotton is, it doesn’t stretch, so most tapes come in a cotton-spandex blend. I really wish this one came in a blend, too, because it doesn’t stretch nearly as much as I think it should. You can wrap it around your fingers fine, but it’s just not as comfortable as it should be.

But once you get it on, its performance is unmatched. You’ll feel it a little on your fingers, but you can sweat all you want and apply as much pressure as you wish – this tape isn’t going anywhere. It holds up to heat, friction, sweat, tension… Literally anything. There is some room for improvement with the Goat Scary Sticky tape, of course, but this is still one of the best sticky tapes you can find.

1. Adhesiveness

This is one thing you most likely know you need to pay attention to. It’s pretty simple – if the glue is not strong enough, the tape will shift or completely fall off. However, glue that’s too strong will leave residue and will be hard to remove. You want something in between – strong enough to stay in place, but not as strong where it will be hard to remove.

2. Material

You want a cotton-spandex blend. Anywhere from 5% to 25% spandex is great, but don’t go over 25%. If your tape is too stretchy, it won’t work well. This is also the case with it being too stiff – it will be uncomfortable and hard to adjust.

How to Use Lifting Tape?
