Let's start with some good news: Tia-Clair Toomey, the six-time Fittest Woman on Earth®, became a mother last month. On May 12, Toomey announced on Instagram that she had given birth to a healthy baby girl, named Willow Clair Orr. Toomey's husband, Shane Orr, is also a well-respected coach, who has worked with many top athletes over the years. Congratulations to the new parents!
Karlos Nasar's Road to Recovery
Unfortunately, there was some bad news this month for world-record-holding weightlifter Karlos Nasar. Nasar, who had just dominated the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships, reportedly suffered a debilitating leg injury that may hinder his future in the sport. According to reports, Nasar tore his Achilles tendon during a hotel stay in Bulgaria, where he had been training. Although he is receiving medical care and support from his federation, the road to recovery may be long and difficult. We eagerly await his triumphant return to the platform.
Asian Weightlifting Championships: Powerhouses Emerge
Meanwhile, the 2023 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Asian Weightlifting Championships took place in South Korea from May 5 to 13. Ukraine Reigns Supreme at EPF Equipped Championships
The European Powerlifting Federation Equipped Championships held in Denmark witnessed a display of raw strength and unparalleled determination. Among the participating nations, Ukraine's powerlifters emerged as the dominant force, clinching the lion's share of team awards. The stage was set, and our incredible team of powerlifters brought their A-game to the highly anticipated 2023 EPF European Equipped Powerlifting Championships. In a display of sheer dominance, our powerhouses Tetiana Bila and Larisa Solovyova left no doubt about their unrivaled abilities. Tetiana Bila, an unstoppable force in the up to 47 kg category, emerged as the absolute champion of Europe, capturing the gold medal with an outstanding performance. Meanwhile, Larisa Solovyova showcased her remarkable strength, seizing gold in all three disciplines in the up to 63 kg category, solidifying her status as an unstoppable force in the powerlifting world.

The silver medals shone brightly as Tetiana Shchavinska in the up to 57 kg category and Valentina Zagoruyko in the 84+ kg category showcased their incredible strength and skill, securing second place in their respective weight classes.

Anastasia Derevyanko in the up to 52 kg category and Daria Rusanenko in the up to 84 kg category displayed exceptional grit and resilience, clinching the bronze medals in their weight classes.
